Stealing: Man to sweep court for two weeks

A ink company worker, Alex John, has been ordered to sweep the premises of the Ota Majistrates’ Court in Ogun State after pleading guilty to stealing.

The convict was arraigned before magistrate A.O Adeyemi for stealing two kegs of ink worth N100,000 which belonged to Olympre Ink Company at Beeper Avenue in the town.

The prosecutor, E.O Adaraloye, alleged that John committed the offence around 8:30pm on March 24, 2022 and was apprehended by the company’s guard before being handed over to the police.

The accused person pleaded guilty to the charge when read to him.

Delivering judgment, Magistrate Adeyemi convicted John without an option of fine and sentenced him to two weeks of community labour, during which he would sweep the court premises as punishment.
