Police arrest fleeing robber in Ogun

The Police Command in Ogun State, on Sunday, said it had arrested a suspected armed robber named Isikilu Moses during an operation in the Joju area of Sango-Ota.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed to journalists in Ota that the suspect was arrested on April 8, 2022, following a distress call received at the Command’s Divisional Headquarters in Sango-Ota.

The PPRO explained that armed robbers had, on the said day, invaded Adebeshi Street, off Joju road, and dispossessed members of the community of their belongings.

H said, “Upon the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer, Sango-Ota Division, SP Saleh Dahiru, quickly mobilised his patrol team and moved to the scene.

“On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums took to their heels, but they were hotly chased, and one of the suspects named Isikilu Moses, was apprehended.

“Recovered from the suspect, are one locally-made pistol, and two mobile phones belonging to their victims,” the officer added.

He said the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.

He added that the command had also ordered a manhunt for the remaining members of the gang yet at large.
