COVID-19 restrictions return as FG gives new directives

The Federal Government has ordered new COVID-19 restrictions across all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

A member of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19, Dr Mukhtar Mohammed, made this known on Monday, stating that the new directives takes effect by midnight of Tuesday.

Mohammed, who is the Head of Technical Secretariat of the PSC, disclosed that mass gatherings in public spaces have been restricted to 50 people at all times.

Everyone not wearing a face mask would also not have access to government institutions while government meetings and travels have been limited to the virtual platform.

Mohammed further stated that the government has directed that bars and nightclubs should remain shut, adding that nationwide curfew will be in force until further notice.

Meanwhile, only essential international travels would be encouraged and all existing protocols strictly adhered to, but there would be no limitation to intra-state travel.
