Ekiti receives additional AstraZeneca vaccine

The Federal Government has delivered another batch of 40,000 AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine to Ekiti State through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti by the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani.

Filani disclosed that the delivery of the second consignment of the 40,000 doses would enable the state to continue inoculating residents, noting that the 52,960 earlier delivered in March were duly utilized on over 10,000 persons.

While reiterating the commitment of the state government to the provision of quality and accessible health care, the commissioner urged residents to take advantage of the vaccination exercise as “getting immunized remained the most effective way to check the virus”.

He therefore appealed to people in the state to continue observing required public health and social measures, such as wearing of face masks in public gatherings, maintaining hand hygiene through proper handwashing, use of alcohol-based sanitizers and social distancing even after receiving the vaccines.
