Video: Woman Pours Soup on Armed Policeman, Beats Female Officer

The Delta State Police Command has released a video of a woman assaulting a mobile police officers in Agbarho, a town in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the State following a viral video where the woman was  seen being dehumanised by policemen.

A video had circulated on social media showing policemen assaulting an arrested woman whose name has not been mentioned yet, prompting condemnation from the general public.

The command’s spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, had, on Sunday, condemned the act and promised that the police officers would be dealt “in accordance with the extant laws as stipulated in the Police act and regulations to serve as a deterrent to others.”

However, the command on Tuesday released a video showing the said woman assaulting an armed officer in her kitchen during the arrest. She had allegedly poured a pot of soup on the policeman before the video started and was seen tearing his uniform while screaming that her child’s phone had been stolen by the female police recording the incident.

Explaining the video, Edafe said, “While the actions of the Policemen who assaulted the woman in Agbarho was excessive, and has been outrightly condemn by the command and the force management, it is also important to give details of the incident as some media houses have been requesting.

“On 22nd March, 2023, one Thankgod James reported that the said woman smashed his vehicle windscreen and assaulted him, on the strength of this report, a woman police was sent to invite her, the suspect became aggressive assaulted the woman police, tore her clothes, so the policewoman called for reinforcement, when the reinforcement arrived, the woman again poured a pot of soup on one of the Policemen even while on uniform.

“While condemning the actions of the Policemen, and as the command have assured members of the public that they will be duly sanctioned, it’s also important for members of the public to behave themselves, and exercise retrain when interfacing with the Police.”
