Osun update: Security forces engage suspected kidnappers in gun battle

Report from Osun State has indicated that members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), the police and other security agencies have engaged suspected kidnappers who abducted passengers in Ajeoku Village, Oboku Local government Area of Osun State, in a gun battle.

The victims, numbering about fourteen, were said to be drivers and passengers of four different vehicles which were attacked on Sunday evening.

According to a source, the vehicles involved were a Toyota Hiace (SGB 827 XB), Toyota Rav 4 (SMK 379 DG), Volkwagen Golf (AG 560 JER) and a Volkswagen Passat (BKN 261 AA).

Newsafresh.com gathered that though five of the victims have been rescued, others were taken to Olua forest, a landscape between Imesi -Ile and Otan-Ile.

The suspected kidnappers reportedly shot two of the victims, but security operatives found them and they are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

At the time of filing this report, three of the four vehicles involved in the incident have been taken to a police station in Ibokun, headquarters of Obokun Local Government.
