Two people have reportedly died on Thursday as a group of daredevil armed robbers invaded a United Bank of Africa (UBA) branch in Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State
The robbers were said to have stormed the bank around 3pm before carting away money from the bank’s vault and available customers.
A source disclosed that a five-year-old girl was shot while coming from school, while the other casualty was a security personnel attached to the bank.

Confirming the incident, Ekiti State Police Command spokesman, DSP Caleb Ikechukwu, said the robbers were able to gain entrance through the use of dynamites and escaped through the bush.
“As I am talking to now, the operatives of SARS (the anti-robbery squad) with a combined team of 33 Police Mobile Force (PMF) are trailing the armed robbers. Information at our disposal is that they escaped through the bush path. We are trying to see how we can catch up with them. By God’s grace, we will,” Ikechukwu added.
He however said preliminary investigation is ongoing as per the number of casualties, while he could not also confirm whether the robbers carted away money or not.
