Police, vigilante arrest suspected armed robbers

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers, Okafor Stanley and Benedith Sunday, who specialised in snatching tricycles, popularly known as Keke.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesman, Haruna Mohammed, 19-year-old Stanley and 21-year-old Sunday were arrested by police operatives attached to Central Police Station, Awka, and local vigilante group on Monday.

Suspects with weapons and stolen tricycle

Mohammed, a Chief Superintendent of Police, said the suspects were rounded up around 8pm at Parkers, Ziks Avenue, following a distress call after they allegedly attacked and snatched a tricycle with two locally-made pistols.

”Meanwhile, suspects have voluntarily confessed to the crime and investigation is ongoing after which they would be brought to justice.

”The Command reassure “Ndi Anambra” that it will continue to pursue the criminals from all nooks and crannies in the State until they repent or relocate from the State,” the statement added.
