Police arrest robbery suspects in Ekiti

Detectives from the Ekiti State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbery suspects, Olusesan Segun (alias ALWAYS) and Kareem Gbenga at the Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

In a statement on Friday, police spokesman, DSP Sunday Abutu, said the detectives swooped on the suspects’ hideout and arrested the duo while others escaped and are still at large.

Abutu disclosed that the suspects also confessed to being members of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity and sellers of illicit drugs.

Items recovered from the hideout included one cut-to-size locally-made single-barrel gun, one locally-made pistol, 51 live cartridges, 32 suspected stolen underwears, 20 suspected stolen aluminum window frames, eight suspected stolen handsets, wraps of Indian hemp and wraps of powdery substance suspected to be cocaine.

Meanwhile, the arrested suspects will be arraigned while effort is ongoing to arrest others.
