Police confirm abduction of ASUP Chairman, four others

Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) at the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igbo-Ora, Mr Opadijo Oluyide, and four others.

Sources disclosed that Mr Oluyide was kidnapped alongside the Secretary of the union, Gbenga Alayande, and three others on their way from a meeting held in Saki on Thursday.

Report says four of the victims are staff members of the same school, while the fifth is the wife of one of them.

The school authority was said to be making frantic effort to secure their release, though an official statement on the situation has not been released.

Speaking on the incident, the state’s police spokesman, Olugbenga Fadeyi, said investigation is ongoing.

“Some lecturers were abducted at the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igbo-ora. The police are on top of the situation.

“The Commissioner of Police went there in the morning for an on-the-spot assessment.

“Other developments will be unravelled,” he added.
