It is no longer news that Hon. Mashood Atanda Mustapha has been honoured as the new Olu-Omo of Yoruba Land of Accra Region of Ghana. The installation by Oba Hamzat Peregrino (VII) had in attendance many Obas, ably led by Oonirisa Ogunwusi Adeyeye of The Source( Ile-Ife) and The Olofa of Offa,Oba Muftau Gbadamosi. Also in attendance were important dignitaries and government officials from Kwara State, led by the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrasaq Abdulrahman. Other government functionaries in attendance were Alh. Yinka Aluko-S.A Special Duties to the Governor of Kwara State and Hon. Cook Olododo, lawmaker representing the good people of Ilorin East and South in the House of representatives
There are former political office holders in attendance, amongst them were Oloye Raheem Adedoyin and others. The city of Accra unarguably received the greatest number of Nigerian visitors as friends, families and political followers of the political tactician scampered through several means of transportation to attend the event. The city of Accra indeed stood still for the man of honour.
When it comes to politics, MM stands alone and represents one of the finest brains of Kwara Political Intelligentsia. He’s the only one whose side has never lost any election, both at the state and national levels
As a political administrator, he has record of excellent performance as a member in the green chambers between (2011-2015). He had tremendous input in the government of Kwara State between 2003 to 2011 as a member of the State Executive Council. MM is one of the poster boys in kwara politics Kwara and Nigeria at large.
As a philanthropist, MM is a blessing to humanity, always willing to bless the needy with his sweat.His house is usually a mecca of sort, attending to the needy. He has used his widow’s mite to bless many widows and provide succour to the orphans. MM is God-sent when it comes to philanthropy and rendering assistance.
As a businessman, MM is a business mogul with his eyes on legal and profitable ventures. He has his investment in trading, properties, hospitality and general service. The quest to found business and contribute positively to humanity was the reason he left the Nigerian Immigration service, the decision that has since paid off. MM has become one of the leading business brands in Nigeria and beyond, including Ghana.
MM is a politician that always strive for knowledge and this can be confirm by his latest accomplishment, where he was inducted as member of Institute of management consultants at Rock View Hotel Abuja, where former Minister of Education presented a practicing certificate to him. This is just an attachment to other academic qualifications, certificates and awards.
Mashood Mustapha’s lineage is rich in titles and honours. They are one of the elitist families in Ilorin that constantly enjoys the fraternity and trust of the Emir, the holder of both the spiritual and administrative leadership of Ilorin. Mashood’s grandfather was Alkali and his father is the current Wali of Ilorin, making him one of the stakeholders in the governance of Ilorin.
Politics also runs in the family. MM’s father was a Commissioner for Finance in the second Republic and remains one of the top elder statemen in affairs of Ilorin emirate and Kwara State at large. A disciplinarian who love for his children knows no boundary. The old man’s victimisation and illegal suspension from the APC elders council by the Sarakites will never make the old man to rescind his decision of supporting his son( MM) from running for the office of the governor in 2019. Hon. Mashood Mustapha enjoys the love and support of his father, siblings and entire members of the family all the times.
Hon. Mashood Mustapha is one of the shakers of Kwara political space. He brought glamour and passion to the game of politics in Kwara State when he threw his hat in the ring to run for governorship post in 2019. He was the first politician to break the then APC into two by organising parallel congresses in his Alanamu Ward in Ilorin West Local Government before factionalising the same party at the state level, thereby paving way for the progressive PDP to join. His declaration for the Governorship seat at Arca Senta has been described as the largest gathering and first of its kinds in the documentary of Kwara State political activities.
Success doesn’t get to MM’S head. Despite his monumental achievements in life, he’s still very humble and humane. A man with a large heart, his spirit of forgiveness is legendary. He’s very religious and always attributes his success to Allah, the giver of all.
