Man arrested for impersonating EFCC operative

Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 29-year-old man, Emeka Emmanuel, for allegedly parading himself as an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The suspect was arrested on Saturday by the Ojo Police Division.

This was revealed by DSP Bala Elkana, the Command’s spokesperson, in a statement on Sunday.

According to Elkana, the suspect had defrauded a number of people under the pretense that he would get them jobs at the EFCC.

His latest victim, Olaposi Semiu, was promised that his son would get a job after the payment of N51,000.

The suspect was said to also possess a fake EFCC identity card with which he convinced unsuspecting victims.

Elkana said Emmanuel confessed to the crime and is being investigated. He stated that in addition to the crime of false pretense, the suspect was also found operating illegal medical facility in his residence.

“Other items recovered include medical equipment and fake certificates,” the statement read.
