Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Saturday arrested 11 suspected internet fraudsters in an early morning raid in Sapele, Delta State.
The Commission said the surprise raid was based on intelligence but it later led to a mild protest by the suspects’ sympathisers several hours after the EFCC team left the city.
The arrested suspects are: Omomua Victor, Demi Johnson, Agufure Godstime, Agboroko Precious, Anthony Omonomo, Onskharoma Julius, Freeborn Efe, Akama Precious, Tagbajiemi Promise, George Raphael and Stanley Agabiri.
Items recovered from them include a laptop computer, a Mercedes-Benz car, computers, mobile phones, flash drives and internet modems.
The anti-graft agency said suspects have made useful statements and will be charged to court accordingly.
