Kano govt appoints Aminu Ado Bayero as new Emir

Kano State government has appointed the Emir of Bichi and son of late Emir Abdullahi Ado Bayero, His Highness Aminu Ado Bayero, the new Emir of Kano.

Announcing the appointment on Monday few hours after the dethronement of Muhammad Sanusi II, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, said Aminu Ado Bayero’s appointment was as a result of recommendations by the four kingmakers of Kano Emirate Council.

He said the new appointment is backed by Section 11 (1) of the Kano Emirate Council Law 2019.

During the announcement, the four kingmakers present were: Alhaji Mutari Adnan, Sarkin Bai of Kano, Alhaji Abdullahi Sarki Yola, Alhaji Yusuf Labahani Cigari and Alhaji Bello  Abubakar.

A son to Ado Bayero, Emir Abdullahi Ado Bayero was, until his appointment, the Emir of Bichi, one of the newly created four emirates at the wake of crisis of confidence between the government and exiled monarch.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Sanusi ll has been banished to Nasarawa State.

Sources said the former Emir was whisked away to Nasarawa by security operatives, where he would spend ‘the rest of his life’ in asylum.
