No fewer than four persons were reportedly killed on Thursday as daredevil armed robbers invaded two commercial banks in Ile Oluji, the headquarters of Ile Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Area in Ondo State.
It was gathered that the robbery operations were carried out at First Bank Plc and Polaris Bank Plc in the town.
Two mobile policemen were amongst those killed in the incident, while the identity of the other victims could not be ascertained as at press time.
Sources disclosed that the robbers gained entrance into the banks after blowing up the bulletproof doors with dynamite, while residents of the town scampered for safety.
The robbers were said to have shot indiscriminately into the air to scare the residents of the town, and thereafter escaped before a team of armed policemen and soldiers arrived the scene.
Spokesman of the state Police Command, CSP Femi Joseph, confirmed the incident, adding that details are still sketchy about the number of casualties. He however said men of the command are on ground to restore normalcy in the affected areas.
