Ekiti grants clemency to 12 inmates

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State on Tuesday granted clemency to twelve inmates of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ado-Ekiti Custodian Centre.

The beneficiaries, who were serving jail terms for various offences, such as stealing and burglary, were Akinyemi Faith, Romiluyi Femi, Adebusuyi Deji, Philip Michael, Isa Kadere, Dayo Julius and Abiodun Oluwatosin.

Others were Adubiaro Sunday, Oluwatimileyin Olanikuti, Stephen Jacob, Adewale Ojo and Sunday Oluwasola.

According to the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Olawale Fapohunda, the inmates were considered for clemency after recommendation by the Ekiti State Committee on Prerogative of Mercy.

Fapohunda, represented by the Director of Public Prosecution, Ekiti State, Julius Ajibare Esq, said, “The beneficiaries were considered based on account of good conduct, remorsefulness and period left to serve at the Centre.”

He therefore advised them to go back to the society, maintain good conduct and shun revenge while avoiding anything that could bring them back to prison.

Also present at the event were the Director of Administration and Supply, Ministry of Justice, Ekiti State, and the Correctional Service officials.
