Breaking: Tribunal sacks Osun PDP lawmaker, orders rerun

The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Osogbo on Monday nullified the election of Mr Bamidele Salam, the People’s Democratic Party’s lawmaker representing Ede Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Mr Salam’s election was nullified after the tribunal cancelled elections in some units across four local governments due to over-voting.

The panel also ordered a rerun in the units.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had in February declared the PDP lawmaker the winner of the seat after he got 46,944 to defeat the APC candidate who got 44,866.

Mr Salam is a former staff of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporations (OSBC) and a media aide to former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola. He was also the Chairman of Egbedore Local Government of Osun State.
