Hon. Sokari Goodboy Sokari joins the Special Chapter of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) and other well-meaning people of the Ijaw Nation across the globe to celebrate the heroic exploits of the late Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro, 54 years after his death.

Speaking at an event to mark this year’s celebration, Sokari enjoins the youths to consolidate on the gains of the struggle.

According to him, “This celebration is a yearly ritual which has come to stay among the Ijaw, Niger Delta, and Nigerian people”

“We are celebrating our father today, a hero who handed a philosophy, an ideology to the entire Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta.”

“He’s the first-ever in the history of Nigeria to fight for the liberation of his people. He died as a soldier 54 years ago in the struggle to keep Nigeria one,” he said.

The renowned Niger Delta youth leader who is also the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Rivers State House of Assembly, Ahoada West Constituency, extolled the qualities of the late freedom fighter and urged youths in the region to consolidate on the gains of the struggle.

“This is the spirit of the struggle of resource control and Isaac Boro believed in resource control.

“This is a reminder for the Ijaw to keep the struggle alive.

“The era of armed struggle is phasing out as the society is changing. It is therefore imperative for the Niger Deltans to place themselves strategically to peacefully achieve their goals,” he added.

Sokari was also decorated with the famous “Adaka Boro” attire by the current leadership of Joinkarama Clan, Special Chapter of the IYC for his meritorious service to the body.
