After few hours of laying siege, soldiers from the Guards Brigade and operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have foiled a bank robbery in a First Bank branch at Mpape, Abuja.
It was gathered that security operatives shot a suspect and arrested four others inside the bank few minutes ago.
Newsafresh.com had earlier reported that the robbers were inside the bank after gaining entry when security operatives arrived and surrounded the premises.
Eyewitnesses said the robbers refused to surrender and operatives stormed the banking hall, killing one of the suspects in the process.
Speaking on the incident, FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma, said, ”It is a foiled bank robbery. We stopped the robbers from raiding the bank. Four men were arrested while a suspect was killed.
“Investigation has commenced to determine how they entered the bank and other things.”
