Ekiti State Police Command has arrested two 19-year-olds, Wasiu Arogundade and Arowolo Monday, for stealing a church bell and other properties from religion houses and other victims.
Police Commissioner, Asuquo Amba, made this known in Ado-Ekiti, the state’s capital.
He said the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) after a tip-off, while investigations revealed that they had earlier robbed a female victim at gunpoint on August 5, 2019, at her residence in Idolofin Area of Ado-Ekiti.
After two days, the suspects were said to have gone to a church, God’s Covenant Wonderful Miracle and Salvation Church, located in the same area, were they burgled the mission house and the church auditorium.
Amba added that the duo confessed to stealing from another church, Saint David Anglican Church Mission, about two weeks earlier and had broken into a shop located at Mary Hill Junction Oke-Ila Area, Ado-Ekiti, where they carted away valuables.
Items recovered from the suspects were: a church bell, a Hauja Amplifier, a ceiling fan, three Hi-harts, a block Molar, two head pans and two shovels.
The Police Commissioner said investigations will be concluded soon and suspects will be charged to court.
