Tourism: Ekiti community commends Fayemi for developing age-long site

Commendations have continued to pour in for Governor Kayode Fayemi as the people of Ipole-Iloro in Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti State lauded his commitment towards the development of Arinta Waterfall for global tourism attraction.

The Olupole of Ipole-Iloro, Oba Ezekiel Oladele, made this known on behalf of his people during a brief ceremony to mark the official handing-over of the Arinta Waterfall to a concessionaire.

Oladele said the trust of the people of the town in Fayemi-led administration has finally been justified, adding that the governor is passionate about the sustainable development of the state.

He noted that the people of Ipole had, for a long time, watched over the waterfall while hoping that a government which cared about tourism would come and fulfil the vision of the founders of the town.

While stating that the concessioning of the site to a private company, ROAG, to develop and manage for a specified period was a welcome development, Oba Oladele congratulated the Olupole-in-Council for the achievement.

The representative of Ipole-Iloro youths, who is also the Supervisory Councillor for Health in Ekiti West, expressed gratitude to the government for paying attention to Arinta which he described as a legacy endowment.

He therefore pleaded with the representative of the concessioning company, Femi Agboola, to consider the Ipole-Iloro youths for employment before, during and after the developmental phases at the site.

Earlier, the Hon Commissioner for Arts, Culture & Tourism, Prof. Rasaki Ojo Bakare, had thanked the monarch for believing in the current administration while describing him as a model among royalties in the state who is committed to the welfare of his people.

Bakare disclosed that the state government has resolved to ensure effective management of the tourism assets by handing them over to private investors, one of which was the handing over of Fajuyi Memorial Park to Motiff Funland last October.

Responding, the representative of ROAG assured attendees that the company would live up to expectation and  ensure the revival of some of the vital infrastructures of the community.

Also present at the ceremony were: the Olupole-in-Council, the Senior Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor, Ambassador Wale Ojo-Lanre, a Senior aide to the wife of the Executive Governor, Alhaji Dauda Lawal, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Titilope Ibrahim Ganiyu, senior members of management of the ministry as well as some key members of ROAG.
