Tinubu Cancels 71st Birthday Colloquium, Opts for Prayers

Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s President-elect, has cancelled the usual colloquium to mark his birthday even as he opted for special prayers and a thanksgiving service for this year’s event.

Tinubu turns 71 on Wednesday having been born on March 29, 1952.

A statement on Monday by a media aide to Tinubu, Tunde Rahman, said prayers would be held at the central mosques in each of the five divisions in Lagos, and other parts of the country.

During the prayer sessions, special prayers would be offered for the peace, unity and progress of Nigeria.

“Also to receive prayers among others are President Muhammadu Buhari and First Lady Aisha Buhari, President-elect Tinubu, and his wife, senator Oluremi Tinubu, Vice-President-elect, senator Kashim Shettima, and Hajia Nana Shettima, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, other state governors as well as members of national and state houses of assembly,” the statement read in part.
