A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday refused to grant the motion filed by #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore, to challenge his 45-day detention by the Department of State Services (DSS).
Justice Nkeonye Maya declined all applications by the counsel to Mr Sowore, Femi Falana (SAN) and sent the case back to Justice Taiwo Taiwo for further hearing.
Falana had asked the court to set aside the exparte order granted by Mr Taiwo and applied for oral bail before Justice Maha declined the requests.
Justice Taiwo had, in a ruling on August 8 in an exparte application, ordered Sowore’s detention for 45 days.
DSS operative arrested Sowore on August 3 over his planned protest which was slated for Monday, August 5. The protest however took place in some parts of the country but was met with stern resistance from security agents.
Sources disclosed that Sowore would be charged with felony and attempt to topple the government, having collaborated with foreign forces.
