In a statement by its Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Moruf Yusuf, the corps said the suspect confessed that body was earlier brought to the cemetery from the Federal Medical Centre FMC, Abeokuta, after complications from a kidney disease.

“He claims that the parents, who came from Ibadan, sought his assistance as a mortuary attendant to get the body buried. He further said that he buried the boy’s body in the cemetery in the presence of his parents at about 19:00hrs on Monday.

“The suspect later went back to the cemetery at 0600hrs on Tuesday 26th of April to severe the head of the buried boy where he was caught after a fierce fight with the So-Safe officer who later overpowered him.

“The suspect later confessed that the fresh head was requested for by a certain Chief Ifalonishe AKA Lanroye at the rate of #50,000 and it was supposed to be delivered to him at a designated point within Abeokuta,” the statement said.

Yusuf said the State Commander of the corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo, has ordered the operation department to ensure that Lukman’s accomplices and clients are apprehended and brought to book.

Meanwhile, the suspect has been transferred to the Ogun State Police Command, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and likely prosecution.
