Russia shifts focus as thousands flee eastern Ukraine

Ukrainian authorities have urged residents to evacuate the Luhansk region of the country as Russia shifted focus to the eastern area while thousands of people continued to flee Donbas.

Russia stepped up its offensive in the western region of Ukraine even as NATO foreign ministers are meeting for two days to deliberate on assisting Ukraine.

There has also been allegations of war crimes as series of evidence showed Russian soldiers executing civilians in Ukrainian town of Bucha.

President Volodymyr Zelensky further listed allegations of atrocities against Russia in a speech to UN Security Council on Tuesday but Russia denied all.

In its latest moves, the United States is expected to announce more restrictions against Russian banks as well as measures against two adult daughters of President Vladimir Putin, while the European Union plans a ban on coal exports as sanction.
