The Attah of Ayede Ekiti in Oye Local Government area of Ekiti State, Oba Adeleye Orisagbemi, at the weekend escaped death by a whisker after unknown gunmen attacked him.
Newsafresh gathered that the incident happened at about 9m on Sunday between Isan and Ayede Ekiti towns when the first class monarch was returning from a meeting.
Reports said the gunmen attempted to kidnap the monarch but perhaps met some resistance, a situation that led to him being shot several times.
As at the time of this report, the monarch is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital while efforts to speak with him proved abortive.
Confirming the incident, Ekiti State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Abutu disclosed that the monarch was coming from Ijero-Ekiti as against speculations that he was returning from Isan-Ekiti.
