The Nigeria Police on Wednesday gave update on the mandate and functions of Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) formed to replace the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
According to the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, the new unit will not accommodate any personnel of the defunct SARS nor involve in patrols.
Mba also disclosed that the main function of the new team is to respond to armed robbery attacks and other weapon-related incidents.
