Nigerian ambassador meets Congolese president, promises bilateral ties

The Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Congo, Engr Omar Suleiman, has officially presented his Letter of Credence to President Felix Tshisekedi.

Omar, in a telephone interview, said the official exercise was a lead that made him hit the ground running in building bilateral ties in the area of mineral products Congo is known for.

According to him, these products constitute most of the country’s total exports and diamonds account for almost one-half of the trade revenue.

He said the Republic of Congo is also reputable for copper, cobalt, gold, coltan, zinc, tin, tungsten and consumer products which include textiles, plastics, footwear, processed food and beverages, among others.

“I presented a letter of my credence with which President Muhammad Buhari appointed me as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Republic of Congo, President Felix Tshisekedi,” Omar said

The Adamawa-born politician had a successful career in Nigeria Port Authority and retired as Managing Director of the organisation.
