Man Shoots Younger Sister’s Lover in Ogun

Police in Ogun State have arrested a 30-year-old man, Michael Ogundele, for shooting and injuring his younger sister’s lover, Tobi Olabisi, at Ihunbo town.

Michael allegedly carried out the threat after warning the victim against dating his sister.

In a statement on Sunday, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect was apprehended following a report by one Alpha Akeem, a community leader in Ihunbo town, who came to the station with the injured victim.

The duo alleged that Ogundele shot at him before he narrowly escaped death.

“Upon the report, the DPO Idiroko division, CSP Ayo Akinsowon, quickly mobilized his detectives to go after the suspect and he was subsequently arrested.

“On interrogation, the suspect claimed to have warned the victim to desist from dating his younger sister but refused.

“On the fateful day, he got an information that the victim was sleeping in his sister’s room and he went there with a Dane gun. On getting there, the victim jumped out from the window to escape the likely consequence when he was shot by the suspect,” the statement said.

Oyeyemi added that the victim was quickly rushed to General Hospital, Idiroko, where he had been responding to treatment.

Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to the Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecutions.
