A 23-year-old, Ikenna James, has allegedly murdered his 29-year-old neighbour, Oluwatosin Adefisayo, after raping her in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The suspect was said to have entered the deceased room through the roof in company of his friend, now at large, before perpetrating the evil.
According to the spokesman of Ogun State Police Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects invaded the room of the Obafemi Awolowo University graduate, molested her and subsequently strangled her.
But luck ran out on James in the morning as he climbed down from the roof while grieving neighbours and local vigilante operatives were still at the scene, after which he was handled over to the police in the town.
Upon interrogation, the suspect was said to have confessed to committing the crime with his friend, revealing that they murdered Oluwatosin because she knew them.
It was gathered that James’ parents witnessed the ugly incident which they condemned vehemently, insisting that their son must face the full wrath of the law.
Meanwhile, the state’s Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has directed that the suspect be moved to the homicide division, while efforts should be intensified to arrest the other suspect and both be charged to court on completion of investigation.
