Barely an hour after Speaker of Kaduna House of Assembly, Aminu Abdullahi Shagali, resigned, Hon. Yusuf Ibrahim Zailani has been elected as the new Speaker.
Also, Hon Mukhatar Isa Hazo representing Bassawa Constituency, has been elected as the new Deputy Speaker.
Both of them have been sworn in by the Clerk of the Assembly.
Sources disclosed that Shagali made the decision to resign after members of the House started collecting signatures to impeach him.
An All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker representing Sabon Gari Constituency in the House since 2011, Shagali was elected Speaker in 2015 and re-elected in 2019.
