The family of Lawal of Ikoro-Ekiti, Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State, on Sunday inaugurated Julianah Abike Memorial Specialist Hospital in memory of their late mother for her passion for the less privileged indigenes of the community.
The newly-built hospital is situated within the centre of the community for easy access to residents.
In his welcome address, Dr Fatai Lawal, on behalf of the family, said they decided to immortalised their mother by building the hospital because of her passion for quality health care services for her people while she was alive.
Lawal noted that his mother’s interest in quality health delivery prompted the family to establish a functional specialist hospital with low cost in the community.
“We initiated the establishment of a specialist hospital with affordable cost in Ikoro-Ekiti because of our mother’s passion and care for the indigenes of the community and to mark her 21st remembrance ceremony.
“It is one of the best private hospital in Ijero Local Government Area and its environment producing functional health care delivery for residents and Indigenes.
“We humbly urged residents to always visit the hospital to check their health status any day and at any time with affordable cost,” he said.
Inaugurating the hospital, the Olukoro of Ikoro-Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Adeleye, commended the entire family of Lawal for the laudable project to further promote the development of the community.
Oba Adeleye, who was represented by Chief Adebomi Adeyeye, the Ominio of Ikoro-Ekiti, urged residents of the community to patronise the hospital.
He prayed for the entire family that God would bless them to be more successful in life.
“Your mother will be remembered forever as a great nation-builder who had passion for quality health care delivery services and love for indigenes of Ikoro-Ekiti.
“I want to urge both indigenes and residents of our community to always patronise the hospital to get quality health care at affordable cost,” he said.
Similarly, former Commissioner of Health in Ekiti State, Dr Femi Thomas, lauded members of Lawal’s family for their contribution to the community and the newly built hospital.
“We can’t but appreciate you for bringing this development to our community in honouring your mother with establishment of a hospital named after her. It implies you are wonderful people and we are proud of you,” he said.
Thomas advised residents, especially pregnant women, to key into the health insurance scheme already established in the community for quality health delivery.
Newafresh reports that Lawal’s family announced that free medical consultations and treatments with two days free surgery would be carried out on indigenes as part of the 21st remembrance ceremony of their late mother.
