How Ajimobi died in Lagos hospital

The immediate past governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, is dead.

Ajimobi was said to have died few hours ago at the age of 70 after a week of his rumoured death.

Sources disclosed that he died at the First Cardiology Hospital, Ikoyi, where he had been on admission since June 2, 2020.

It was further gathered that the former governor had battled COVID-19 and later tested negative but his organs collapsed about a week ago from complications. He subsequently fell into a coma and put on life support following a surgery.

Ajimobi was a two-term governor between 2011 and 2019.

Before his political journey, he was the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Oil and Chemical Marketing Company, a subsidiary of Shell Petroleum, Nigeria.

He was elected in 2003 as a Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District on the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) before becoming the governor of Oyo State.
