Twelve Assistant-Superintendent of Police have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Borno, BBC Hausa is reporting.
The Nigeria Police officers were said to be on their way to Zamfara State when the incident occurred about twelve days ago but only came to light on Tuesday.
BBC Hausa also reported that one of them called his wife to raise a million naira, warning that there would be trouble if the target is not met.
The officers were believed to have been deployed for a special operation in Zamfara.
