The Federal University,Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) on Saturday said that the university has emerged as overall best in the just concluded Committee of Deans of Engineering and Technology (CODET) academic contest held in Abuja for all Engineering departments across Nigerian Universities.
This was disclosed in a statement jointly signed by Mr Wole Balogun, Special Adviser on Media Matters and Mr Foluso Ogunmodede, Chief Information Officer to the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Fasina Fasina in Oye-Ekiti.
The statement revealed that FUOYE retained the topmost position in CODET after clinching the golden trophy in the 2018 edition of the contest.
The implication of this was that FUOYE has the best Mechatronics Department in the country and equally offers the best training in Engineering courses.
According to the statement, the current Director of FUOYE’s Directorate of Pre-Degree programmes, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Dr Adekunle Adefemi, who represented Prof. Fasina, received the honour for FUOYE in Abuja on Aug.11.
Dr Adefemi recalled that FUOYE clinched the first position in CODET competition in 2018 to the admiration of the former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Soremekun and great efforts of the then Dean of Engineering, Prof. Babatope Alabadan, as well as other senior academic members of staff such as , Dr Adefemi Adekunle
Other lecturers are; Dr Mattew Arowolo, Prof. Adagbonyin Obiazi, the entire staff of Faculty of Engineering and late Prof. Temitope Adejuyigbe who founded the FUOYE Mechatronics Department.”
Recalling the 2018 uncommon feat, Dr Adekunle said: “FUOYE team topped all the Engineering competitors in Nigerian competition by coming first in group competition with Robotic Surveillance car with night vision camera that can be viewed from home, which can be controlled remotely at a100m distance.”
While disclosing a repeat of the success story by FUOYE at the recent outing in Abuja, Dr Adekunle said: “Congratulations to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Fasina, and the entire Management Team, the Dean of Engineering, Prof. Olalekan Bolaji
“Others are : Head of Department of Mechatronics Engineering, Engr. Seun Martins; Engr. Dayo Sobowale, the Head of Department of Computer Engineering, and the Delegates, led by Prof. Alabadan, Dr Daniel Okorie and Mr Josiah Àti of Mechatronics Department and his team made it again for FUOYE.
“We came first at the Committee of Deans of Engineering and Technology (CODET) contest in Abuja and FUOYE was decorated on Aug.11, at the International Conference Centre,Abuja, for the first position in single categories and emerging second best in the group categories as well.
“I want to Congratulate the former Dean, Prof. Olugbenga Amu on the wisdom used in steering the faculty ship and was able to present the delegates for the competition. God bless you sir. While congratulating Dr Daniel for the beautiful coordination,
“I can never but appreciate Mr Josiah Àti of Mechatronics Department. Ati remains my wonderful son, handed over to me by Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, the current Vice Chancellor of Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State, to be groomed and mentored academically.
“I equally appreciate the Computer Engineering students that won the group competition, Mr Daniel Ibinaye and Sunday Oluyele.
“For our current vice chancellor, Prof. Fasina, the newest feat at CODET is a double celebration because incidentally, he had represented the former vice chancellor, Prof. Kayode Soremekun, in Abuja to receive FUOYE’s award of excellence in 2018 as the then Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Administration,
“Fate has eventually made him the fourth substantive Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE when a greater feat such as this has occurred.”
