For Refusing Reconciliation, Ogun Man Sets Ex-lover’s House on Fire

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man, Yusuf Hassan, for setting the apartment of his ex-lover, Busayo Falola, ablazed at Ago Iwoye in Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state.

Hassan was said to have carried out the dastardly act following his ex-lover’s refusal to reconcile with him.

Narrating the incident in a press release made available to Newsafresh, the spokesman of the command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed that the landlady of the building, Adejoke Salau, brought a complaint to the police.

The landlady reportedly said she heard a noise from one of her buildings in the middle of the night and later discovered that the building was on fire while three tenants were trapped.

The three tenants were later rescued by neighbours but the house was completely razed.

Oyeyemi stated further that after the commencement of investigation, Falola informed the police that she saw the suspect at the back of her window around 12.30 a.m. on the fateful day.

“She explained further that she was scared to see him at that ungodly hour which made her to scream and ran out of her room to the room of another tenant.
This made other tenants to come out in order to check what Yusuf was up to, only for them to discover flame coming out from Busayo’s room,”he added

Hassan was said to have initially denied the allegation after his arrest but after detectives attempted to go to his house to confirm if he was home at the time of the incident, he decided to open up.

The suspected was said to have “confessed further that he intended to burn his ex lover in her own apartment because he had tried his possible best to reconcile with her but to no avail, and that was the reason why he bought #500 petrol, poured it into her room through the window and set it on fire”.
