FG lifts ban on two airlines

The Federal Government on Tuesday lifted the ban placed on Lufthansa and Air France/KLM.

Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, made the this known in a tweet, saying the operators have been given the approval to operate international flights into Nigeria. Sirika also added that Qatar Airways has been granted approval to resume flights to Abuja.

Recall that the Nigerian government had in September barred some airlines from entering the country when it resumed international flights operations, following the easing of the COVID-19 lockdown. The airlines include Air France, KLM Royal Dutch, Lufthansa, Etihad Airways, RwandAir, Air Namibia, Royal Air Maroc and TAAG Angola.

The likes of Air France, KLM Royal Dutch, Lufthansa and Etihad Airways, were denied entry because Nigerians with tourist visas had been banned from entering those countries.

The Minister also hinted at the possibility of the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Port Harcourt International Airport and Enugu Airport accommodating foreign travellers before the end of 2020.
