The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ekiti State on Friday swore in a new set of executives after a successful voting exercise.
The new executives will pilot the affairs of the Chapel for a three-year tenure.
After running for the positions unopposed, Victor Ogunje (ThisDay) was elected as the Chairman, Raphael Ogbonnaiye (Daily Trust) as Vice Chairman, Oluyinka Soyemi (Alaroye) as Treasurer and Victor Akinkuolie (The Hope) as Secretary.
Speaking on behalf of other members of the executive, the Chairman, Victor Ogunje, lauded members of the Chapel for the confidence reposed in them, while assuring that the new team will fulfil all promises to effect tremendous level of unity and welfarism.
Commending members of the chapel for their unwavering support to the state council, Chairman of Ekiti NUJ, Rotimi Ojomoyela, advised the new executives to serve with diligence and fairness.
He said the level of improvement within the next three years should be adequately conspicuous as a payback for members’ support and trust.
” I want to admonish our new executives today to ensure that within the next three years, the chapel ought to witness reforms and improvement especially for members. It is a call to service and don’t forget it is necessary and important that you work together with every member of this chapel.
” No doubt, our profession is currently in a precarious situation and it is expedient for us to begin taking some decisions in making lives meaningful for ourselves. We must endeavor to do other things in the interest of our future,” he advised.
