Ekiti Govt Yet to Address Petty Trader Plight

By Femi Adekunle

The Ekiti State Government is yet to intervene in the case of an Ekiti State First Class graduate, Aderonke Bukola Oniye, who turned out as a petty trader.

Recall that various online news reported the case of an Ekiti-born First Class graduate in Banking and Finance from Wesley University in Ondo State who appealed to well-meaning Nigerians and the government to come to her aid for any deserving employment.

However, the SSA to Ekiti Governor on Community Communications, Mrs Mary Omotosho, held a meeting with Mrs Oniye and her husband, Mr Felix Oniye, to intervene in the pathetic situation where she promised to inform the governor.

According to Mr Oniye, the aide has failed to respond to their plight and has not picked their calls.

He said, “After meeting with Mrs Mary Omotosho on 24th May, 2023, we have sent a message to remind her. Since 19th June, 2023, she has not picked her call or even respond to our messages.”

The Ikere-Ekiti academic guru, who also bagged a Distinction in Banking and Finance from Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State has resorted to petty trading since there was no collar job.

According to her, she has a dream of becoming a Professor in Finance but the pathetic situation has pegged her as a petty trader.
