Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the deployment of officers and tactical squads to major highways, prayer grounds and public places to prevent crime during the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Sunday.
The statement said, “The Ogun state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of this year Ramadan fasting and urged them to be a good ambassador of Islam by ensuring peace at all time.
“In order to put crime and criminals at bay during the Salah celebration, the CP has ordered the deployment of large number of policemen to man all the major highways across the state.
“Also operatives of the command’s tactical squads such as SWAT, anti kidnapping unit, anti cultists unit as well as police mobile force had all been put on red alert to nip in the bud any ugly incident that might want to rear it’s head before, during and after the Salah celebration.”
Oyeyemi, who urged the general public to inform security agents of suspicious activities around them, added that all area commanders and divisional police officers have been directed to effect the measures.
