Notorious Eiye cult leader arrested in Ogun

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a suspected notorious cultist, Rotimi Adebiyi, for carrying out deadly cult attacks in the state capital, Abeokuta, and Ifo environs.

A statement by the Command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect, a leader of the dreaded Eiye cult group who had been on the wanted list of the police, was nabbed by CSP Olanrewaju Kalejaye-led SWAT team in his hideout in Ifo.

Adebiyi, also known as ‘Paracetamol’, was said to have successfully participated in various attacks in Abeokuta and had always escaped to Ifo but ran out of luck on Saturday when SWAT operatives stormed his hideout at about 1:30am and apprehended him.

The statement read in parts: “The suspect, Rotimi Adebiyi a.k.a Paracetamol, who has been on wanted list of the command over his role in several cult clashes in the state which has led to the death of some members of another cult group was arrested by CSP Olanrewaju Kalejaye led SWAT operatives in his hideout at Ifo area of the state.

“Recovered from him are: one cut to size locally made pistol, one live cartridge, assorted criminal charms, weed suspected to be Indian hemp and a cutlass.”

Oyeyemi said the state’s Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had consequently “ordered a full scale investigation into the past activities of the suspect with the view of arraigning him in court as soon as possible”.
