EFCC arrests state assembly clerk as wife, daughters attack officials

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested and currently quizzing Mr. Torese Agena, Clerk of the Benue State House of Assembly for alleged fraud, stealing and misappropriation of public funds to  the tune of over N220m.

The Clerk is currently in detention on a valid remand warrant obtained from the Federal High Court, Makurdi.

The Commission also said the wife of the suspect, Mrs Terngu Agena, and her two daughters, Terfa- Mamadu Ngweavese and Agena Suur, created a scene on Friday, January 17, at its Makurdi Zonal office when they attacked some officers.

Agena’s wife and two children who came on a visit reportedly assaulted two mobile policemen on duty and gave the third a human bite on his left arm, while they also tried to run down another with their car while trying to escape.
