Edo PDP gives new revelation as Obaseki dumps APC

Edo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party has said the embattled Governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki, and other top officials of the All Progressives Congress, would soon join his party.

The Chairman of the party, Mr Tony Aziegbemi, made the statement as Obaseki formally announced his decision to resign his membership of the ruling APC.

Obaseki was on Friday disqualified from contesting the party’s governorship primary election by the screening committee on the ground of certificate discrepancies.

He thereafter made the announcement to quit the party after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Tuesday

Noting that Obaseki will not be given an automatic ticket in PDP, Aziegbemi said the governor can contest with other candidates who had earlier shown interest.

He said the party had been in touch with the governor and the date he would join the PDP will be confirmed soon.

Meanwhile, the PDP has fixed its governorship primary for June 19 and 20.
