COVID-19: Cases now 27 as four test positive in Abuja, Lagos

The Federal Capital Territory (Abuja) and Lagos have recorded one and three new cases of coronavirus respectively.

These were announced on Sunday by relevant authorities as the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria has now risen to 27.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed the new case in Abuja, which currently has four cases, via its Twitter handle.

It said: “One new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in FCT, Abuja, Nigeria.

“As at 11:00 am on the 22nd of March, there are 27 confirmed cases of COVID19 in Nigeria.

“Of the 27 confirmed cases, 2 have been discharged with no death.”

The new cases in Lagos were also confirmed by the Lagos State Ministry of Health via its Twitter handle, @LSMOH.

The Ministry tweeted: ”One of the three new patients is a 51-year-old Briton, who arrived Nigeria on March 8 via BA75 flight, while the second is a Nigerian on connecting flight KL0582 London Amsterdam / KL0587 Amsterdam – Lagos March 14.

“The third is a 65-year-old citizen of the United States of America who arrived in Lagos about six weeks ago.”

Meanwhile, the number of confirmed cases in Lagos is now 21, out of which two have been discharged.
