A 29-year old man, Olaleye Jimoh, was on Thursday remanded at the Correctional Centre in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly raping a 50-year old woman.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, told a Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti that the defendant was reasonably suspected to have committed the offence of rape on one Omotayo Jimoh.
According to Akinwale, the defendant committed the offence, punishable under Section 358 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ekiti State 2012, within Ikole-Ekiti Magistrate District on or about January 22, 2021.
He said Jimoh was arrested on January 24, 2021 at Odo-Owa-Ekiti.
Akinwale therefore begged the court for a short adjournment date to allow him duplicate the case file to be sent to DPP for legal advice.
The defendant was represented in court by Barrister Busuyi Ayorinde.
The Magistrate, Mrs. Adefunmike Anoma, ordered that the defendant be remanded at the correctional centre and adjourned the case till March 4, 2021, for mention.
