The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Chief (Mrs) Christianah Monisade Afuye, has appealed to Ekiti citizens to have unflagging faith in Governor Biodun Oyebanji to fulfill his electioneering promises geared toward combating the burdens of poverty and insecurity in the land.
She urged them not to be hopeless despite the myriad of challenges confronting the nation, assuring that better and more glorious days are coming with the commitment being displayed by Governor Oyebanji and his team.
Mrs Afuye, urged the citizens to display uncommon patriotism at this period when the nation seems challenged, by exposing saboteurs coalescing forces with evil doers to compromise the security and causing wanton killings, kidnappings and economic deprivation.
Mrs Afuye said this in a congratulatory message marking the Christmas festivity, and signed by her Special Assistant (Media), Victor Ogunje, on Friday.
The Deputy Governor said Christians must always exhibit the nudge to do good to humanity through the lessons of love, joy, sacrifice, and togetherness espoused by Jesus Christ.
The State’s number two citizen enthused that the country will disentangle from the current security and economic conundrum stronger and better, with support and prayers from Christians, for their leaders and government at all cadres.
Mrs Afuye preached for peaceful and mutual co-existence among Ekiti citizens, regardless of religious and political inclinations, warning that fanaticism brews and stokes hatred, crisis , instability and senseless killings of innocent people.
She urged them to celebrate with modesty and act in conformity with the directive of Jesus Christ, and be amenable where necessary for Ekiti to become a state that is model, incorruptible and progressive.
“Let me felicitate Ekiti people at this joyous time of Christmas celebration, signposting the birth of Jesus Christ.
“The lesson in this celebration is love, togetherness, sacrifice, piety, generosity, liberty and purity of hearts and souls as adumbrated by Jesus Christ in the holy book.
“Let all Ekiti indigenes have faith in the government of Biodun Oyebanji and instill the good virtues exhibited by Jesus Christ in their hearts and dealings in the quests to build a state that is progressive, peaceful, stable, and incorruptible,” she promised.
