Justice Suleiman Lawal of the area court sitting in Jos on Monday sentenced a businessman, Ismail Suleiman, to three years’ imprisonment for damaging his neighbour’s car windscreen.
Suleiman, 22, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
During arraignment, Prosecution counsel, Insp Monday Dabit, said the case was reported at the Nasarawa Gwong police station on August 4 that the convict destroyed the car’s windscreen valued at N120,000 without provocation.
Dabit said the offence contravened section 313 of Plateau Penal Code Law.
Justice Lawal therefore found the accused person guilty after his plea and ruled accordingly, but gave an option of a N100,000 fine.
He also ordered Suleiman to pay a N100,000 compensation to the complainant or spend another year in jail.
