Breaking: EFCC raids INEC office over alleged financial crime

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) on Tuesday reportedly raided the Sokoto office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over alleged financial crime.

The Commission is said to have cordoned the office and subsequently questioned some principal officers for allegedly involving in financial crime.

A source confirmed the raid and said the matter is still under investigation.

According to The Nation, INEC office on Tangaza road was deserted and only scanty staff, who refused to talk to anyone, were around.

It was learnt that the raid may not be unconnected with the issue of non payment allowances to ad hoc staff who participated in the 2019 general elections.
