The people of Igburowo town in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State have lauded the Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, for appointing one of them, Mrs Margaret Akinsuroju, as the Caretaker Chairman of the local government.
The people of the town in a unanimous decision at a meeting held at the Youth Centre in the town also declared their supports and readiness to work towards the victory of the second term ambition of the Governor.
The meeting which was attended by several indigenes of the town, groups and associations, members of the Igburowo Development Committe (IDC), as well as others from neighbouring communities.
In a letter of appreciation read at the meeting by the Secretary of the Committee, Dr Yemi Olugbamigbe, they appreciated the Governor over the appointment and promised their unalloyed support to his administration beyond 2020.
They described the appointment as a great privileged and unusual recognition to the people of the community, adding that the Odigbo council helmsman is an exemplary daughter of the town who was highly respected and loved by her people as a result of her unending commitment to the welfare of the people.
The letter read in part, “We sincerely appreciate the Governor over the appointment of one of us. We have no doubt in our minds that she will not disappoint us. It should be on record that it was through her doggedness and political sagacity that the administration of the late Dr Olusegun Agagu finally decided to give us the only link road to the Ore-Ondo main road.
“It was on record that the people convinced Akinsuroju to join the immediate past administration in Ondo State under the leadership of Dr Olusegun Mimiko hoping that the road would be completed. Unfortunately, that was not to be, as the road was abandoned and the contractors diverted to another road in the state,” it stated.
The people of the community, while reiterating their commitment to continuous support for the Akeredolu’s administration, commended him for several innovative programmes embark upon across the state.
The people while lamenting over the deplorable condition of the only road that lead to the community, appealed to the Governor to include the name of the town as his administration had concluded plans to embark on the construction of rural roads across the state.
Earlier in the meeting, the chairman of IDC, Mr. Nelson Akintolayo, congratulated Akinsuroju over her appointment while commending Akeredolu over what he described as systematic and impartial measures adopted in the settlement of the dispute between Araromi-Obu and Ikale people in the area.
He enumerated the economic benefits of the Igburowo link road as connecting with huge sources of timber in the Orisunmibare Forests Reserves, cocoa, plantains, kolanut and quarry sites previously explored by notable construction companies in the state, among others.
He urged Mrs Akinsuroju to work very hard to justify her appointment and possibly attract a bigger one. He pledged the readiness of the people of the town to show more of their appreciation to the governor in practical terms for every good done to the people.
