The Niger State Police Command has arrested a woman, Bose Isaac, for allegedly selling an abducted baby boy for N300,000.
This was made known by the Command’s spokesperson, Muhammad Abubakar, on Sunday.
Abubakar revealed that the suspect was arrested after the father of the victim, Gambo Shua’ibu of the Cikin-Gari area of Kagara in the Rafi Local Government Area of the state, reported the disappearance of his son on August 24, 2019.
Consequently, a team of policemen attached to the Kagara Division began an investigation that led to the arrest of the suspect while trying to escape.
The police spokesperson told Northern City News that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation. He said she confessed to have abducted the child and took him to a woman in Ogun State who promised her N300,000 but had yet to fulfil the promise.
Speaking on her arrest, the suspect said she needed the money to settle some ‘family problems’ and she sold the baby to a client who was desperate to have a child.
She however blamed the devil for her actions.
Meanwhile, the police spokesperson has said the Command is on the trail of the other suspect as Isaac will be charged to court soon.
